And I love the music in the game, so much so I bought the collector's edition for five bucks just because it came with the soundtrack.Jayedubhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07437007861375094683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6711156850879162685.post-28222333209976652172010-01-22T12:03:29.200-08:002010-01-22T12:03:29.200-08:00@Aspen: as you can likely tell from my post I agre...@Aspen: as you can likely tell from my post I agree with you 100%. LoTRO is a visually stunning game. That Turbine was able to launch the game with such low system requirements is also amazing. Only AoC has environments on par with LoTRO, and you need twice the hardware to run it at a decent frame-rate.

As an aside, one thing I learned doing this post is that I suck at screen shots. Very few of those screen shots do either game justice.Yeebohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08028940396189544294noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6711156850879162685.post-70211152206211147662010-01-22T05:36:21.779-08:002010-01-22T05:36:21.779-08:00Visually, I think LotRO did a phenomenal job captu...Visually, I think LotRO did a phenomenal job capturing the feeling of the books. The music is great too and contributes to that. I have yet to play anything as pretty.

I never read the Conan books either and I never stuck it out past the starting area to see the real world.Aspendawnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01295434130203411301noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6711156850879162685.post-23967802709155286332010-01-21T20:15:58.014-08:002010-01-21T20:15:58.014-08:00@Anjin: heh, yeah I suspect it would be awesome.

They don't have the depth of some other pulp fiction writers like like Micheal Moorcoock or Fritz Leiber, and certainly nothing like the complexity of Tolkien and the high fantasy that followed.

However, I think the stories remain a lot of fun to read. Just don't make the mistake of trying to read any of the Conan novels by Robert Jordan and others.Yeebohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08028940396189544294noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6711156850879162685.post-46293995022142227272010-01-21T08:16:36.795-08:002010-01-21T08:16:36.795-08:00I can't comment on AoC too much since I've...I can't comment on AoC too much since I've never read the books, but agree on Turbine's treatment of Middle-earth. They've done a really good job of sticking to the books and yet still fitting the IP into the MMO genre.Blue Kaehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03837719824734379806noreply@blogger.com
